High Street in Armadale has been a strip for antique dealers for generations, and this shop has been importing directly from Scandinavia since 1988, long before Scandi design became design-magazine shorthand. The stock runs from Biedermeier case furniture through Art Deco pieces and on into the mid-20th century, with named designers such as Carl Malmsten and Bruno Mathsson turning up among the chairs, desks and sideboards. Ceramics, glass, silver, clocks, mirrors and jewellery fill out the smaller cabinets, giving the shop the range of a proper decorative arts dealer rather than a single-era specialist. Sharen Virtanen has run the business for over three and a half decades, maintaining supplier relationships across Scandinavia that keep fresh shipments arriving rather than the same local stock recirculating. It rewards a slow look: the value here is in period and provenance as much as style, and the Biedermeier and Art Deco pieces sit comfortably alongside the mid-century without either era dominating the room.
