The Tip Shop Hobart
Worker-owned since 1993, this not-for-profit cooperative at McRobies Gully runs on consensus decision-making and employs 40 people to keep usable things out of landfill. Secondhand electronics, reclaimed timber, repaired computers, and an annual Art From Trash exhibition make it something stranger and more purposeful than a standard op shop. Eighty-five cents of every dollar goes directly to wages.
