Castlemaine Vintage Bazaar

Set inside a repurposed woollen-mill complex opposite Castlemaine's Botanical Gardens, this is a sprawling multi-dealer bazaar — more than a hundred curated stalls threading across some two thousand square metres. The pickings run to second-hand curios, retro glassware, vinyl, collectables and the odd handmade piece, all wrapped in a knowingly whimsical brand. Open seven days, it's the kind of place where an hour's browsing turns into an afternoon.

XXXX Antique Complex

A vast, single-owner treasure house on the highway corner in Castlemaine, holding tens of thousands of genuine antiques and collectables under one roof. The strength here is automobilia and enamel advertising — petrol bowsers, motoring tins, auto and pub signs — alongside china, glass, silver and Art Deco, one of the country's more significant collections of its kind. It's a browse-for-hours warehouse rather than a boutique, rewarding those willing to lose themselves in it.
